Life happens, and sometimes a lesson needs to move. Here is how cancellations, rescheduling and lesson package refunds work, kept simple and fair for everyone.
Rescheduling or cancelling
If you need to move or cancel a lesson, please let me know as early as you can. With at least 24 hours’ notice, there is no charge and we will simply find another time that works for you.
Less than 24 hours’ notice
When a lesson is cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, the lesson fee may be forfeit. The slot has been set aside for you and is difficult to fill at short notice, so this helps keep teaching time fair and consistent.
For students using a lesson package, a lesson cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will normally be treated as a used lesson.
That said, I understand that genuine emergencies and illness happen. If something unavoidable comes up, please get in touch and let me know. I will always try to be reasonable.
Lesson packages and refunds
Lesson packages are offered at a discounted price because you are committing to completing the full package and paying for the lessons in advance. For example, a package of 10 lessons may cost £320, reducing the price from the standard rate of £40 per lesson to £32 per lesson.
If you choose to end the package early, after any applicable statutory cancellation period, the commitment on which the discounted price was based will not have been completed. The lessons you have already taken will therefore be charged at the standard individual lesson price that applied when the package was purchased. Any remaining balance will then be refunded.
For example, if you purchase 10 lessons for £320 and choose to end the package after three lessons, the three completed lessons will be charged at the standard rate of £40 each. A total of £120 will be deducted and the remaining £200 will be refunded.
This means you will not be charged for unused lessons, but the discounted package rate will only apply when the full package commitment is completed.
Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may also be included as used lessons when calculating a refund.
Where a statutory 14-day cancellation period applies, any refund will be handled in accordance with your statutory rights. If you expressly ask for lessons to begin during that period, a proportionate amount may be deducted for lessons already provided.
Lessons I need to cancel
If I ever have to cancel a lesson, you will be offered a rescheduled session at no extra cost, or a full refund for that lesson if you prefer.
If I am unable to provide the remaining lessons in a package, the discount will remain in place and you will receive a refund for each unused lesson based on the discounted package price originally paid.
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights.
